As I was travelling in Indonesia, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Sara, a young and experienced Australian fashion designer who’s expanding into SE Asia starting by Indonesia. She has been designing for dozens of brands and is finally launching her own: Kalila Resortwear. An authentic photographic marathon, this shot rendered amazing results thanks to the serendipitous and outstanding team we conformed with the designer, the model and the make up artist.
Fast and Prolific
We started the day photographing around 30 different swimwear outfits. Sara is an extremely prolific designer which meant we had to be fast in order to get the most models into our day.
Water Action
Despite the rush, Sara gave me a few minutes to try an idea I had suggested her. I had brought my underwater housing to try and get close to the water action. This was swimwear after all, wasn’t it? I always says that brands can offer the most diverse playground for un to mix up our skills and experience in a creative way. This is an example of how a technique and gear normally used for outdoors, travel and diving work added tremendous value to a fashion project. I had fun and splashy water action in mind but these sexy and peaceful shots we made in the shower of Karma Kandara Resort Spa exceeded my expectations. That’s the magic of teamwork and improvisation.
