Agroecological Maize Breeding
An educational video on the maize breeding practices in Brazil for the whole world to learn from. DocumentaryCommissioned by Access Agriculture, this educational documentary follows the participatory maize breeding work carried out by MCP and Embrapa across different regions of Brazil. I traveled to Sergipe and Goiás over three field trips, working as a one-person crew to capture interviews, fieldwork, and the daily realities of the communities and farmers involved.
After production was complete, I edited the 16-minute piece in such a way that it could easily dub it into other languages, as the main goal of Access Agriculture is to make sustainable farming practices reach farming communities around the world, whether they can read or not.
One video, 4 languages (for now…)
The carousel below features the documentary in the four languages it was first launched in. The project has been structured in a way that makes it very straightforward to create additional language versions.
Explainer sequences
Beyond filming and editing, I designed and animated two explanatory sequences that communicate the project’s core concepts: participatory varietal trials and agroecological corridors. These animations were developed to complement the observational footage, making complex agricultural practices accessible to a broad international audience.
